Estimating the properties of weathered bedrock and pilerock interaction from the geological strength index

The effect of variable rock mass properties on pile-rock interaction poses a great challenge to the design of stabilizing piles and numerical analysis of pile-rock interaction. The paper presents a novel method to estimate the properties of weathered bedrock, which can be applied to routine design of landslide-stabilizing piles for collivial landslides. The Ercengyan landslide located in the Three Gorges Reservoir, China, is the area of interest for this study. A geological investigation and triaxial tests were conducted to estimate the basic parameters, including Geological Strength Index(GSI), uniaxial compressive strength σ_(ci) and Hoek-Brown constant m_i of intact bedrock in the study area. Hoek-Brown criterion was used to estimate mechanical properties of the weathered rock, including elastic modulus E_m, cohesion c, friction angle Φ, and normal ultimate lateral resistance p_(max). A parametric study was performed to evaluate the effect of parameterizations of GSI, σ_(ci) and m_i on the bedrock properties and p-y curves. The estimated rock mass properties were used with PLAXIS 2D software to simulate pile-rock interaction. Effect of GSI on stress at the pile-rock interface and in the rock, pile bending moment, pile shear force, and p-y curve were analysed.     

Influence of the Choice of Core-Envelope Transition Point on the Binary Merger of Two Main-sequence Components

We have studied the influence of different choices of core-envelope transition point on the final merger of contact binaries with two main-sequence components. A binary of 1.00 + 0.90M⊙ with an initial orbital period of 0.35d is examined. The mass fraction of the primary mixed with the matter of the secondary, qmix, determined by the chosen core-envelope transition point, ranges from 0.04 to 1.00 in our analysis. A standard format for reporting PILPS experiments

In model inter-comparisons one major obstacle is the format of the reported data. To facilitate the analysis of the results from the different models they should all be reported in the same format. This requires that the format is flexible enough to be easily implemented into the different land surface schemes. It should also be fault tolerant and allow a few consistence checks to avoid erroneous data to be submitted. The present note describes such a format developed for the PILPS project. After discussing the aim of this new format we present the routines which are used to write and read data. Finally two applications are described which allow the user to perform a number of consistency checks on the data.

为了研制亚毫米波射电天文用超导SIS(超导 -绝缘体 -超导 )接收机 ,我们重点开展了如下研究 ,1 )Nb超导SIS结在其能隙频率附近的量子混频特性 ,及其结合高能隙超导薄膜 (NbTiN)和高电导率金属薄膜 (Al)分布结阵在 780 - 950GHz频率区间的量子混频特性 ;2 )亚毫米波超导混频器嵌入阻抗的数值和实验表征 ;3)高电流密度小面积Nb超导SIS结的制备和特性表征 ;4)一个 60 0 - 72 0GHz超导SIS混频器的研制和特性表征。本文详细介绍了相关的数值分析和实验测量结果。     

Modelling of deformation response and chemo‐mechanical coupling in chalk

A constitutive relation is derived for describing the mechanical response of chalk. The approach is based on a phenomenological framework which employs chemo‐plasticity. The properties of the material are assumed to be affected by the physico‐chemical processes that occur through the interaction between the skeleton and the pore fluid. The underlying mechanism is discussed by invoking a micromechanical analysis. The performance of the framework is illustrated by examining the evolution of mechanical characteristics in the presence of different pore fluids. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

本文提出了一个普适的衡量成团天体系统成员概率计算结果的有效性指数：Ｅ＝１－ＮΣ｛Ｐ（ｉ）［１－Ｐ（ｉ）］｝／ΣＰ（ｉ）Σ［１－Ｐ（ｉ）］｝，并以此对以Ｓａｎｄｅｒｓ方法为基础的各种成员确定模型的有效性进行了分析．从总体上说，运动学资料（自行、视向速度等）是一类有效的观测判据．     

Strong Tides in 1964 and 1982

1StrongtideandastronomicalconditionsPartial solar eclipse occurred 4 times in 1964, 1982 and 2000 respectively. Time interval is about 3 Saros periods (one Saros period is 18 years and 10.33～11.33 days). Total lunar eclipse occurred 2 times in 1964 and 2000 respectively and 3 times in 1982. However, there was no lunar eclipse in 1966, 1984 and 2002. It seems that they had similar astro-nomical conditions and the best was in 1982. The studies about the effect of tide on the global climate…     

βCephei变星的脉动不稳定带的研究(英文)

在本文中我们对两种不同的 βCephei变星的理论脉动不稳定带作了比较。它们具有明显的不同之处。为了确定这种变星的脉动不稳定带的轮廓 ,我们根据 4 9颗 βCephei变星的观测资料作了统计研究。在从样本星的色指数 (B -V) ,(U -B)和视差得到它们的有效温度和光度之后 ,我们发现在赫罗图上它们大多数是位于主序带内的。而且这些样本星的质量都位于 7M⊙ 到 30M⊙ 之间。和理论模型的比较表明我们提出的具有光度上边界和红蓝边界的 βCephei变星的理论脉动不稳定带跟观测吻合得更好
